Welcome!

SOLD

Avocet has now found a new owner, hopefully they will have some great adventures of their own. Thanks to all those who showed an interest and good luck with the search for your new boats.

Avocet is a mid-eighties Pegasus 700 bilge keeled sailing boat. She measures 24 feet long, has a beam of 8 feet and a draft of 3 ½ feet. Despite her conservative size, we have comfortably sailed her as far west as the Isles of Scilly and east to Salcombe. She is mild mannered, forgiving and a great introduction to the joys of sailing.

We purchased her in 2019 when she was in need of much tlc. Since then we have renewed, refurbished, repaired and replaced much of her equipment and systems making her a safe, fun and comfortable boat to enjoy.

Refurbishment

During our ownership of Avocet we have refurbished her entirely, from new sails and standing rigging to new upholstery, galley, electrics and freshwater plumbing.

The interior has been tastefully updated using modern fabrics and a combination of clean and brightly painted surfaces along with key brightwork to provide a light and pleasant environment.

Its not all about the interior tho, with new standing rigging, reinforced chain plates, new rudder bushes and the replacement of the rotten stemhead backing plate to name a few things, she is now ready to continue her sailing adventures.

Mooring

Included in the sale of Avocet is her mooring at Loe Beach and the opportunity to take on the ownership of the mooring licence from the harbour master.

The ground tackle consists of a half-tonne granite block and two chains, a 25mm ‘ground chain’ that was renewed in 2019 and a 10mm ‘riser chain’ that was renewed in 2022 along with marker and pickup buoys. The riser chain and buoys are removed over the winter.

During the off-season (October to April), ashore storage can be arranged at Loe Beach boatyard where they will also take care of your mooring tackle.

The mooring is licenced with an annual fee from Truro Harbour Authority.
